On the 12th of September, students of MBA-IB 2019-21 attended a webinar by Mr. Anish Raj, University Relations Leader, Advisory Tech Hiring and HR Analytics, Lowe’s India. The lecture was centred on “The Scope of HR in association with Marketing and Technology”.
Mr. Raj conducted an eye-opening session about real-world practices from an HR perspective as well as Marketing and SCM managerial roles. Mr. Raj provided real-life instances on how he transitioned through different stages of his professional career and learned everything on the job through practical experiences.
He explained why we should consider failure not as the opposite of success but rather as a part of it. He gave us valuable insights into the ‘To-Be State’, how a business pipeline works starting from being a generalist to understanding business partners, and ultimately working on the business strategy using the pilot model while making sure that the business goals remain aligned with the HR goals. Mr. Raj suggested frameworks such as the 4-grid model, and also the importance of learning different technologies like R, ML, React JS, etc. which can help us in understanding the business POV. He also spoke about the balance between layoffs and process optimization in a business which is of utmost importance to future managers.
Mr. Raj went on to talk about how we should focus on our work in Internships and live projects without worrying about remuneration or certificates and how we should increase our engagement in such activities. He mentioned the qualities a student ought to develop such as patience and hard work, intense focus on goals, alertness, stepping out of comfort zones, and so on. The discussion ended with an interactive Question and Answer Session.
- “It was a really enriching and insightful session. The discussion inspired me to focus on the lower-level details of my professional life and understand business needs better” - Akshita Pradhan, MBA, International Business (Finance), Batch 2019-2021.
